Running A Server
Funny things can happen when you run a server. Let's go through a few things that I have encountered and how I go around some of these weird behaviors.
CloudFlare & Unique Ports
When a domain name is set to point the CloudFlare DNS+CDN (with the CDN option can be toggled on and off), be mindful when running services on non-standard ports. Standard ports are, but not limited to, HTTP (80), HTTPS (443). SSH (22) and FTP (21) ports are not allowed by default, so users are advised to connect to SSH via IP address (which is not rerouted by CloudFlare CDN).
Hence, when a service can be accessed by non-standard port, connect to that service through IP address instead of domain name.
